ARONIA
Aronia (Chokeberries) are native to eastern North America.
It has attracted scientific interest due to its deep purple, almost black pigmentation that rises from dense contents of phenolic phytochemicals, especially Anthocyanins.
Anthocyanins also act as powerful antioxidants. This antioxidant property in Anthocyanin is conserved even after it is consumed by another organism.
Chokeberries have an ORAC of 161 micromoles TE/g.
